My Year in Books (2022)

My Year in Books (2022)

I read 53 books in 2022 according to Goodreads. While I love a ‘proper book’, I also love Audible as it means I can ‘read’ while doing housework, exercising, or travelling. It’s usually what I bribe myself with when I can feel my inner sloth complaining!

I don’t understand the snobbery around listening to books. I’d love to spend more time in a comfy armchair with my nose in a book, but even if I had unlimited time on my hands, I’d still choose to do both. Anyway, here, in no particular order, are my favourite reads of 2022.

Fiction

  • Rebecca, Daphne du Maurier
  • The Key in the Lock, Beth Underdown
  • Thin Air, Michelle Paver
  • Gentlemen and Players, Joanne Harris
  • The Book Thief, Markus Zusak
  • The Shadow Wing, Sarah Painter
  • Beltane, Alys West
  • The Nature of Witches, Rachel Griffin
  • The Gathering, Katherine Genet
  • The DCI Daley Series, Denzil Meyrick
  • Bleeding Heart Yard, Elly Griffiths
  • The Twist of a Knife, Antony Horowitz
  • The Bullet that Missed, Richard Osman

Non-fiction

  • The Day the World Stops Shopping, J. B. Mackinnon (non-fiction)
  • The Relaxed Author, Joanna Penn
  • Connected Fates, Separate Destinies, Marine Sélénéé
