Welcome!

I'm Emma and I write witchy, fantasy fiction about reluctant heroines harnessing the power of love, friendship, and wild magic to save the world.

I grew up in Wales, in a tiny house full of books and tales of magic, but I didn’t take my writing seriously until my forties, when I realised that life is far too short not to follow your dreams.

With a lifelong passion for nature and more than two decades of experience advising companies on sustainability, my writing is deeply influenced by my love of animals and the natural world.

I’m also a creative mentor, supporting other writers through my Writing Scared Substack essays and one‑to‑ones. I’m also the founder and organiser of Bracknell Book Fair.

When I’m not writing, I’m usually reading, gardening, torturing my cello, or dreaming up ways to sneak another houseplant past my surprisingly tolerant husband. I’m slowly turning our home into an indoor jungle, though I'm not sure my Mr. Wonderful has caught on to the full extent of this plan just yet. Either that or he’s just humouring me...

For many years, our lives revolved around our beloved animals. Our last dog passed away suddenly in 2022 and as any animal lover knows, they take a piece of your heart with them.

We're still not quite ready for another dog of our own, so for now, I content myself with cuddles from friends' pooches, dog-sitting for our beautiful grand dog, Max, and tickling any passing cat who'll tolerate the attention.

I also obsess over the garden birds (they eat better than we do!) and have a family of friendly pigeons who regularly sit on my office windowsill and keep me company while I'm writing.

Writing is a solitary business, but I love a natter, so do say hello on TikTokInstagram,  Substack, or  Facebook.
